ROCSC Announce Coaches for 2012 Season
Rostrevor Old
Collegians Soccer Club is pleased to announce that Davide La Scala will
once again take charge of the A Team as Head Coach in 2012. After a
season of transition and development with the loss of some of the old
guard and the arrival of many new faces, a positive 2011 has set the
foundations for much success in 2012. We would like to congratulate
Davide and wish him all the very best for season 2012.
All coaching positions have now been filled and it is with great
pleasure that we congratulate the following coaches:
A Team – Davide La Scala
B Team –
Raf Plawecki
C Team – Brett Lawrence
D Team – Sam Innamorati
After highly successful seasons in 2011 both Raf Plawecki and Brett
Lawrence have been moved up to the B & C teams respectively. We are
very confident that they will experience much success in their new
coaching positions.
Finally congratulations to Sam Innamorati who has put up his hand to
coach the D Team for 2012, we thank Sam for his commitment to the club
and we are all very glad to hear that as the D Team finish 30 minutes
prior to the A match, he will still be available to cook the all
important home game BBQ.
A Message form the Head
Coach
To all ROCSC
Players,
Welcome to Season 2012!
After a positive run of results in the second half of last season, the
A Team will be looking to continue this form in 2012. We are
continuously looking to improve the culture and atmosphere at the club
and this year there will be changes in the structure of the teams as we
look for success across all four teams. Pre season training will
commence in early-mid January 2012 and we will ensure a variety of
training sessions and locations to keep the interest high for all club
players. We will be looking to start pre season friendly matches as
soon as the second week of February.
One of the key factors to our success this year will be fitness, so
if you haven’t already started your own pre season running
– please do! We start fresh next year and fitness will be the
difference between winning and losing and it will most certainly be the
difference making the A squad or not.
I look forward to seeing you all out there at pre season training.
Cheers,
Davide

Rini Coolen Catches Up with ROCSC Players
Adelaide United
coach continues his weekly contribution for Football Federation SA
Coolen's Corner - Week 10

Rini Coolen watched the Devine Super League Round 17 clash between
Western Strikers and Adelaide City.
I was pretty excited before the game and I suspected a very good game
with two of the better teams in the league playing against each other.
I think teams like that definitely in the last weeks of the season have
special games where you have to win the points.
The outcome was it was a pretty easy game for Adelaide City who played
in my opinion a very concentrated and very focussed game.
They did they job what they had to do, they didn’t give too many
chances away because I didn't see too many chances from the opponent.
They created a lot of chances for themselves and scored four goals so I
think it was a very good performance from Adelaide City who deserves at
this moment to be number one of the league.
Of course Western Strikers were handicapped by not having their number
one striker Calvin Mbarga who is their leading scorer – that was
a big loss for them.
The circumstances at this period at the end of the season aren't
fantastic but overall the result was a fair result which showed me that
they play a very organised and disciplined game.
They also had to handle a few different players in different positions
so they had a very good performance.
But, if you saw Western Strikers against Adelaide United on Tuesday
night you would see that they are a good team that prefers to play
football.
They have very good players so they didn't really have a fantastic game
against Adelaide City, but they definitely proved against us on Tuesday
that they have a good team, good players and they play very good
football.
And, that's how I've seen them over the whole season. It's very nice to
watch them play football but unfortunately last weekend was not their
best day.
I also caught up with players from Rostrevor Old Collegians Soccer Club
at the Bath Hotel in Norwood.
It was nice to catch up with them at the end of the day and talk about
football. They came together often to discuss the results and that day
it was good to share with them because all their teams won their games.

Venter FC - ROCSC Playing Kits Donated
With the assistance of Br Tom Kearney, Director of Novices - Christian Brothers ISC, ROCSC has been able to donate a full set of playing kits for The Venter Superstars Football Club in Lusaka, Zambia.
The club was founded by the Christian Brothers and Mr Fackson Chibale in an effort to keep the youth of the compound occupied. At that time they were mostly unschooled, and prime targets to become victims of HIV/AIDS continuing the poverty cycle of their predecessors.
Initially, the club's playing pitch was quite bare without any grass. They are now happy to advise us they have grass for season 2011. This has contributed to bringing some positive attitude to the players.
They now have approximately forty players coming to training.
Venter FC are
currently
working on setting up a junior team, and their two year challenge is
for a big breakthrough
to introduce a girl's team.

If you would like to help out the Venter Superstars in any way,
please contact ROCSC at enquire@rocsc.org
